In Crimea, passed a vote. For joining the Crimea to the Russian Federation voted 95%. Turnout was 82.71%. I am a political activist in Russia, and I know the price of the voting process here. In Putin's empire is no democratic elections and no respect for the law. In Putin's empire has simulated elections. Putin's authoritarian habits stronger than the search for political legitimacy. Putin's Support Group is an archaic part of Russian society. This group believes that the ruling political regime should give orders to citizens. If the political regime asks citizens, the political regime is weak, and the weak has no legitimacy in the opinion of these people. A group of citizens supporting Putin does not respect him, but only obeys him.
So we have undemocratic 95%.
If this is news to foreigners, for the Russians, this routine life. In 2012, in Mordovia (region of Russia) ruling party won 100% of the vote. Turnout was 68.02%. In 2011, the ruling party in Chechnya had 99.51% of the vote. Turnout was 94%. In the same year in Ingushetia ruling party had 90.96% of the vote. This is not an election but a shame! I want to live in a democratic Russia which respect the right to elect and to be elected.
